It all started with Emilia
My grandmother was a classy and fierce woman, she spent her days typing on a government building as a secretary. She drank 5 coffees a day. She was the matriarch of the entire family and she was the one that taught me how to do most things in life.
The old house
This was our balcony, facing the garden. I always liked it because I could see as far as Gaia on the other side of the river. Back then the house was old, and I have many stories about it. When I was a kid I used to be scared of going down the old stairs.
The palm tree in our garden
We had a long communal garden, the same kind you visit today in some coffee shops in the old buildings of Porto. In the photo you can see a tall palm tree in the background. The garden was so taken by invasive plants and bushes we didn't even use it. Is the palm tree still there?
Your tour Guide
My name is Cláudio, and I was born in the very heart of Porto. What is now the city’s tourist center was once simply my neighborhood, the streets where I grew up and played. I carry the memories of walking to school with my grandmother, the stories of my family, and the nostalgia of a city that has shaped who I am.
